Paying for Home Care

Paying for Home Care

Many people believe that paying for home care is simply asking for the services through Medicare.  Sometimes the confusion stems from knowing people who receive support after a hospital or rehab stay.  This is temporary assistance to help with recovery in the home.  What most people need is assistance with Activities of Daily Living or ADLs.  This is also called custotial care which is something one must plan for just as one does for retirement.  The following short video explains some of your options.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that because a provider has TV or radio ads that they are a home health agency when they may be nothing more than a Nurse Registry. Registries do not have an RN managing your care and only send contractors for you to manage.  Additional information concerning the types of providers can be found here: Types of home care Providers.
