Danger of Texting and Driving

Danger of texting and driving – Yesterday Bonnie and I were driving to W.P. to visit a client. At a light on 17/92 the SUV ahead proceeded through the intersection when the light turned green. A driver in a full size van did not slow down and hit the SUV at full speed in the rear passenger door. I ran to the SUV to check on the driver who was gasping for air and crying, and then she said my babies are in the back. I pulled the back door open to find a baby 3 months old. I removed her and handed her to Bonnie. I then removed the 4 year old and we had the Mom move away from the vehicle with the girls. After the initial check up of all 3 by the Maitland ambulance team the took the Mom to the hospital. The battalion fire chief arrived and took the little girls to the hospital to be with their Mom, their father was in Boston on business. Great job of responding to the accident by the Maitland PD & FD. Please do not text and drive.
